This is me in a nutshell:

MSc (1995) and PhD (1998) in Zoology at the University of Vienna (with Kurt Kotrschal and John Dittami) for studies based on fecal hormone metabolites, seasonality and behavior in Greylag and domestic geese at the KLF. Post-doc with Rui Oliveira at ISPA, Lisbon, Portugal (PFCT PRAXIS XXI/BPD/20142/99) on social modulation of androgens in birds, fish and vertebrates in general. In addition, studies of salivary testosterone patterns from human pair partners. Return to KLF, Austria with a Schrödinger Follow-up Program (FWF R30-B03) to investigate hormonal partner compatibility as an indicator of pair-bond quality in anseriforms and galliforms. Currently, Alexander-von-Humboldt-fellow at the MPIO, Seewiesen, Germany (AvH OST/1132340 STP) with focus on post-conflict behavior in quail.

Research:

Research Interests:

    1. Behavioral endocrinology: testosterone mediated trade-offs, (anti-)stress research

    2. Social neuroendocrinology: social modulation of hormones, brain and behavior

2.a. Agonistic context: mechanisms and functions of post-conflict responses

2.b. Sexual context: pair-bond related phenomena, mating and parental strategies

3. Non-invasive methods (i.e., hormones from avian feces, fish holding water, human saliva)
